The first really big story to break via citizen journalism may have been the Rodney King case. Since then, millions of people have used their camera phone to record events in their neighborhoods and communities. Likewise, millions of people comment and write about happenings via FaceBook, blogs, and various media outlets similar to the Good Men Project. Not all of these events will become the national media storm that the King case was, but they are nevertheless important in documenting modern life.
The modern reality is that anyone can be a journalist. In what postitive ways is that shaping our world? Why is it important that more people use their voices in this way?
What is the most important story that has broken via citizen journalism? Why was it important to the world? How was it important to you personally?
We tend to think of horrible acts of brutality when we think of citizen journalism, but people record joyous, funny, or touching everyday moments too.
